Too Many Disney Movies?

By Daniela Coria – Staff Writer

Many students believe that in this newer generation Disney is making a lot of profits not just from raising its prices for their parks tickets but for movie remakes and sequels as well. The type of argument can be controversial due to people enjoying the remakes with the the technological advancements and they can enjoy their childhood memories remade. But what if it’s not just about childhood memories, what if it’s more of, having too much nostalgia, giving Disney more money than it already has.

In such cases, many say that this generation will not be able to appreciate how the original movies had a special place in one’s heart up until today. Continue reading “Too Many Disney Movies?”

The 61st Annual Grammys

By Elijah Alavazo – Co-Technology Editor

The curtains were drawn at the 61st edition of the Grammy Awards, which was held at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, and was hosted by Alicia Keys.

The show was headlined by names such as Kacey Musgraves and Childish Gambino, who each received considerable attention on the night. Musgraves, a country musician, took home four Grammys, including Album Of The Year for Golden Hour. The Rapper/R&B artist, Gambino, won two major categories in Best Song Of The Year and Best Album Of The Year for his politically-charged This Is America. Donald Glover, the man behind the ‘Bino persona, was not present to collect the honors, presumably to make a statement about the Grammys, or perhaps award shows in general. BatFleck No More

By Alberto Diaz – Staff Writer

Ben Affleck has hung up his cape and cowl as Batman. Affleck’s departure from the role of Bruce Wayne was long expected, as the actor went through a rough patch, both personally and professionally, while he portrayed the character.

After he beat out Avengers: Infinity War’s Josh Brolin for the role back in 2013, Affleck’s casting as the Caped Crusader received immediate backlash from comic book fans, with many having claimed that the six foot four actor was not imposing enough for the role. However, Affleck went on to deliver a standout performance as an older, more hardened Batman in the critically panned Batman V. Superman: Dawn of Justice. Following the film’s March 2016 release, whispers of Affleck’s possible departure from the DC Extended Universe began. Continue reading “BatFleck No More”

Kingdom Hearts 3 – A Review

By Tommy Gutierrez – Staff Writer

Kingdom Heart is a video game trilogy that started back in 2002 and just came out with it’s new game recently. This new game came out on January 25th 2019 and is available for Xbox one and PS4. KH fans are very excited to play this new game because they have waited a long time for its arrival. KH is a very complicated and whimsical action RPG series that concludes the main story with the characters Sora, Donald duck, Goofy and other friends as they fight against the evil organization XIII and the swarming blight known as the heartless. This game blends with Final Fantasy’s art style with Disney’s cartoon worlds. You’ll get to visit the settings from the movies like The Lion King, Beauty and the Beast, Pirates of the Caribbean, and you’ll get the help of Simba, Beast, and Captain Jack Sparrow and many other Disney characters. There are a decent amount of KH fans here at Carson High School.
CHS Environmental Science, Engineering, and Technology senior student Matthew Sigua said, “I’ve played all of them and it’s one of my favorite gaming series as a child. I like the new game and I would recommend it to people who’ve played the series before because the story is really confusing.” Continue reading “Kingdom Hearts 3 – A Review”
